Shikata Ga Nai was meant to be from the beginning.
These five crazy characters were already friends during high school.
Their compositions are filled with nifty bass lines, heavy grooves, and some southern sun. But above all: always bursting with energy. They played already at LantarenVenster (Rotterdam), de Vooruit in Ghent and on the main stage van Gent Jazz.

Pianist Maël Mercier and Rutger met in April 2022. However, when they played together for the first time it seemed as if they had been doing that for years. In fact, it was as if they had known each other for years. Their music takes them on a journey through their favorite landscapes: jazz and beautiful songs. They never know in advance where they will end up and by which means. These two young friends search each other in their music and by doing so, find the ultimate freedom.

Stereo Stuff is a dynamic music project based around pianist/hammond player Elias D'hooge and Rutger Mathys. These two friends like to see it as an excuse to play even more together than they already do. It's a laboratory for their creativity and wild ideas that fit nowhere else. This manifests itself in a YouTube channel where they play "instant compositions" and a band with which they play these songs live, combined with soul, pop en funk hits.

Duo gaitar is a band consisting of Rutger Mathys (Ghent, BE) and Marijn van der Linden (Rotterdam, NL). In this project, their musical personalities meet and search for a way to expand existing boundaries and look for intersections in their playing. This causes an exciting journey that leads the listener through landscapes of colorful sounds, joyful melodies, and deafening silences.
Rutger is currently studying the chromatic harmonica at the conservatory of Rotterdam where he's playing jazz, as well as tango and Latin music. Marijn graduated as a jazz guitar player in 2005.
Like Rutger, Marijn's musical personality goes way further than just jazz. Ever since his conservatory years, he is attracted to Brazilian music. This made him play cavaquinho and the acoustic seven-string guitar. A seven-string guitar has all the warm characteristics of a classical guitar but, thanks to the extra string, has also a lot of punch and grooviness that Brazilian music requires.
In Duo Gaitar, they experiment with Latin and tango music, but also implement Rutger's musical roots, which lay in the world of the jazz, chanson and cabaret. The harmonica is a doorway to fresh, unexplored sounds inside those genres.
Their music is a celebration of the wonderful phenomenon: the love for the song.
Het Verloren Akkoord started as a musical duo in which Rutger Mathys and his friend Sebastiaan Carron played covers of their favorite tunes. They played songs from artists like Jacques Brel, Frank Sinatra, Herman van Veen,... Until they decided to start writing ourselves.
Their cabaret show #tegendegroei that came out was a great success. Besides that, there are many other concerts like the two editions of "Joie de Trois", "Het Groots Spektakel", the "Kunstenfestival Aardenburg", and lots of living room concerts, on which They look back with pride and pleasure.
After five wonderful years full of music, Sebastiaan en Rutger decided in April 2021 to put an and to this wonderful story. As said, they look back with joy on the many performances that they've played and the beautiful, intimate moments they've created together. With as an absolute peak point their cabaret show #tegendegroei.
But sadly, lives change, and everyone takes their path. There are many ambitions, but only a few hours a day, and Het Verloren Akkoord no longer fitted in this picture.
They want to thanks everybody who helped to make all these beautiful moments come true. Especially Laurens Eetesonne and Hannes Strobbe, their two companions who were always there for them with full enthusiasm. Besides that, they also want to thanks the guys their our band, 't Groot Lawaai: Elias D'hooge, Kobe Walleghem, Jens Dolleslaghers, and Tibo Polleunis.
"For every door we have closed, there will no doubt be a new one open tomorrow."
